Submittals that don't stall the buy.

Every submittal sits in a register by spec section, with who has it and when it's due. Because it's linked to schedule activities, you can see which approvals are holding up the work before they hold up the schedule. Linking to subcontracts is planned.
How it gets done now
Spreadsheets and disconnected tools, each holding part of the same number.
- 01
The register is a spreadsheet built from the spec at buyout and updated by hand.
- 02
Reviews go out by email; status depends on who last remembered to update the log.
- 03
Procurement doesn't know a submittal came back approved until someone forwards it.
- 04
At closeout, approved product data is hunted down for the O&M manuals.
One entry. Everything downstream already knows.
On os.construction the record is shared, not synced. Here is everything Submittal 23 33 00-04 touches, the moment it changes.

Straight answers.
Can it build the register from the spec?
We're looking at how to speed up register setup from spec sections. Until that ships, the register can be imported from the spreadsheet you build at buyout.
Who can see submittal status?
Everyone on the job with access to the project, including the sub that submitted it, so nobody has to ask where a submittal is.
How is this different from a PM tool's submittal log?
The log itself is familiar. The difference is that it sits on the same project record as the specs, drawings and schedule. Linking each submittal to the commitment it releases, so buyers and payers see approvals too, is planned.
