AIA Document G703, the Continuation Sheet, is the detailed page (or pages) behind the G702. Each row is a schedule of values line. The standard columns are: item number, description of work, scheduled value, work completed from previous application, work completed this period, materials presently stored (not in D or E), total completed and stored to date, percent complete, balance to finish, and retainage.
Why it matters
The G703 is where the architect and lender check progress against what they see on site. It is also the bridge between billing and job cost: if the SOV lines map to cost codes, you can compare billed percent to cost percent and spot over or under billing by line.
Worked example
Illustrative row on Riverside Medical Center Pay App #9 (sample data): “CO #14 Fire dampers,” scheduled value $86,400; previous $0; this period $51,840; stored materials $17,280; total $69,120; percent complete 80%; balance to finish $17,280; retainage at 10% $6,912. Every row sums to the G702 totals.
Common mistakes
- Percent complete that doesn’t match the field’s actual progress.
- Moving value between lines without owner approval.
- Billing stored materials without the required backup (invoices, insurance, location).
How os.construction handles it
We’re building the G703 from SOV lines mapped to cost codes, so billed progress and cost progress sit side by side for each line.
