Draft — pending legal review

Legal

Privacy notice

Plain English first. This is a working draft that has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer, and it may change before launch. Last updated: October 11, 2026

Who we are

This website, os.construction, is operated by [Company legal name], [registered address] (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal information described here. os.construction is a pre-launch product; this notice covers the website, the waitlist, the Founding Contractor Program application and the contact form.

The short version

  • We collect what you type into our forms, plus basic analytics about how the site is used.
  • We use it to run the waitlist and founding program, reply to you and improve the site.
  • We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.
  • A short list of service providers (below) processes it on our behalf.
  • You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time: email hello@os.construction.

What we collect

Waitlist sign-ups

Your email address, the role you pick (for example general contractor or owner), which form you used, the time you signed up and your approximate country. The country comes from our hosting provider’s reading of your IP address; we store the country code, not the IP address, with your sign-up.

Founding Contractor Program applications

Everything in the waitlist sign-up, plus your name, company, company size band, the systems you use today (for example Procore, Sage, QuickBooks, Vista or Excel) and, if you choose to share it, a description of your biggest pain point (up to 500 characters).

Contact messages

Your email, name, company (optional), the topics you select and your message (up to 1,000 characters).

Questions you ask the AI assistant

If you type a question into “Ask the OS” on the homepage, the text of that question is sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, to generate an answer. Please don’t include personal or confidential information in those questions. We do not store the questions in our own database; our hosting provider may keep short-lived technical logs.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 on the production website to understand which pages are used and whether sign-ups work. GA4 collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type and events like “sign up”. Google states that GA4 does not log or store IP addresses; it uses them briefly to derive approximate location and then discards them. Google Analytics uses cookies, described below.

Technical data

Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) receives your IP address, browser user agent and the pages you request in order to serve the site, and keeps these in short-lived logs for security and debugging. Our web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details when the page loads.

What we don’t collect

We don’t ask for payment details, and we don’t knowingly collect sensitive categories of information. The “Founding Builder” card on the homepage is generated in your browser; it is not sent to us.

Why we use it

  • To run the waitlist and founding program: confirm your sign-up, send launch updates and early access invites, review applications and schedule conversations. (Legal basis where applicable: your consent and our legitimate interest in running the program.)
  • To reply to you: answer contact messages and press or partnership requests. (Legitimate interest; steps you ask us to take.)
  • To answer AI questions: send your question to our AI provider and show you the answer. (Your request.)
  • To understand and improve the site: aggregate analytics. (Consent or legitimate interest, depending on where you are.)
  • To keep the site secure: detect spam and abuse, for example using a hidden form field that only bots fill in. (Legitimate interest.)

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time by replying “unsubscribe” or emailing us.

How long we keep it

  • Waitlist and founding applications: until launch plus [retention period, e.g. 24 months], or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first.
  • Contact messages: for as long as we need to handle your request, then up to [retention period].
  • Analytics: Google Analytics event data is kept for [GA4 retention setting: 2 or 14 months].
  • Hosting logs: kept by Vercel for a short period under their standard retention.
  • AI questions: not stored by us; Anthropic retains API inputs and outputs for a limited period under its commercial terms.

We share personal information only with service providers that process it on our behalf, under their terms, to run this website:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case we’ll tell you). We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Your rights & deletion

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent. We extend these choices to everyone, wherever you are.

To make a request, email hello@os.construction from the address you signed up with, and tell us what you’d like. We’ll respond within [30] days. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you’re unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Cookies & local storage

  • Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) distinguish visits so we can count usage. They are set only on the production domain. [Add consent banner / opt-out mechanism if required for your audience.]
  • Local storage remembers small preferences in your browser, such as whether you turned site sound on (os-sfx), recent searches and your preferred code language in the developer docs. It never leaves your device.
  • Session storage remembers, for the current tab only, that you’ve already seen the boot animation or the guided tour (os-boot).

You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings at any time, or block analytics with a browser extension. The site still works.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and form submissions are stored as private objects that are not publicly accessible. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information. See our security principles.

Children

os.construction is built for construction businesses. The website is not directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

International transfers

Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. [Confirm primary data region and transfer mechanism.]

Changes

We’ll update this notice as the product develops, and change the “last updated” date above. If a change materially affects how we use information you’ve already given us, we’ll tell you by email before it takes effect.
